Sony D-NE319 MP3/ATRAC CD Walkman (Blue)

Sony D-NE319 MP3/ATRAC CD Walkman (Blue) Review

Several years ago I got the fancy Sony Walkman with a plug-in control tube. This controller broke within six months and would have cost over to replace. The D-NE319 works just as well without the worry of having to replace a very fragile plastic control apparatus.

Sony D-NE319 MP3/ATRAC CD Walkman (Blue) Feature

  • Feature-rich personal CD Walkman compatible with compressed MP3, ATRAC3, and ATRAC3plus formats
  • Plays up to 490 songs on single CD-R/RW disc in ATRAC3plus format
  • Skip-Free G-Protection technology guards against music interruption
  • Bundled with SonicStage CD-burning software and compatible with Sony's Connect Music store
  • Runs for 41 hours on 1 AA battery; includes clip remote control; 1-year parts warranty
With Sony's DNE-319 MP3/ATRAC CD Walkman Portable Compact Disc Player (Blue), you can be assured that you'll never have to worry about missing your music or skipping a beat while you're on the go.P The player's Skip-Free G-Protection technology provides quick recovery from both horizontal and vertical shocks, so hitting those unexpected pot holes or making sudden stops won't ever interfere with your listening. Playback options include 18 playback modes and a bookmark function that offers a wide array of listening choices, including hearing one track repeatedly, hearing a selection of tracks in a desired order, or listening to tracks randomly. P Compatible with Sony's ATRAC3plus technology, the DNE-319 Walkman is loaded and ready to play the rewritable CDs of albums and tracks you download and burn from Sony's Connect Music Store. The player also comes bundled with Sony's SonicStage CD Simple Burner software. Compatible with most CD burners, this application transfers songs from CDs or MP3 music files from your PC's hard drive and burns them to recordable CDs using ATRAC3plus compression.P ATRAC3plus is Sony's high-quality audio-compression technology that reduces the size of digital audio files while preserving much of a track's original sound quality (similar in concept to MP3 or Dolby Digital sound formats). With ATRAC3plus, music can be burned and compressed at 132, 105, 66, 64, or even 48 kbps (kilobits per second), letting you select the right balance between fidelity and storage space, and allowing you to burn up to 490 songs to a disc at 48 kbps.P Other features include Sony's Digital Mega Bass Sound, which produces rich, deep, bass tones with extremely low harmonic distortion; a five-direction control key, which means that you control five individual functions from a single button; a three-line LCD that provides fast and easy identification of track, title, album and artist information along the location of specific songs; and an automatic shut-off feature that powers the player down when it's not in use, helping to further conserve battery power.PBAbout Sony Connect Music Store and ATRAC3plus/Bbr Sony's Connect Music Store (http://musicstore.connect.com) offers one of the most extensive music collections online. Customers can choose single tracks or entire albums from independent and major-label artists for purchase and download. Sony's proprietary ATRAC3plus is an advanced audio compression and Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology offering multiple bit rates, allowing you to create music compilations tailored to your listening preference with the ability to get up to 490 songs on one CD-R/RW disc at 48 kbps. Songs downloaded and burned onto CD-R/RW media using ATRAC3plus technology can be played on any device that supports ATRAC3plus.PbWhat's in the Box/bbr Sony DNE-319 MP3/ATRAC CD Walkman Portable Compact Disc Player (Blue), MDR-027LP Stereo Headphones, and SonicStage Software on CD-ROM. Sony's worldwide reputation for creating unique, attractive, high-quality, advanced technology products rests on a long line of innovations embraced by people from all walks of life. Sony DEJ621 Walkman Portable CD Player

Sony DEJ621 Walkman Portable CD Player Review

See more picture

I have had the Sony DEJ621 CD Walkman for 3 years now and it has given me many, many hours of listening pleasure in that time. Whilst not the smallest or compact of CD Walkman's, it is perfectly acceptable in size (unless fashion statements are important to you). It is quite pleasing to the eye, without being overstated in its design. Most of the controls are easily accessible and operate smoothly. One exception is the G- Protection button (used to reduce skips and drop outs if your Walkman is always on vigorous move). It's inconveniently located in the CD compartment, so if you need to turn it on, you must remove the CD. Opening the lid also causes the CD to start playing from the beginning. It is a small flaw in an otherwise excellent machine.pAn excellent feature of this Walkman is the ability to program tracks in the order you want them. A shuffle and repeat feature also add value. With 2 levels of bass boost and an audible fast forward and rewind, this Walkman has very good features for the price. You also get Sony's excellent warranty coverage.pAs for audio quality - I have no complaints. With G-Protection switched on, there is some loss of quality, but this a small trade off at being able to listen to your Walkman whilst doing even the most vigorous of movement. Even with G-Protection switch off you can smoothly move with Walkman without many drop outs. The quality of the audio not only depends on the Walkman, but also the headphones. So get yourself a good set of headphones and the audio quality will be excellent.pOne small grip is the battery life. Ordinary batteries do not last long, so unless you get yourself rechargeable ones, a lot of money will be spent buying batteries. Even with the cheapest rechargeable battery set, you get many hours of listening before needing to recharge them.pThe Sony DEJ621 is an excellent CD Walkman from an excellent company with a great set of features that are (mostly) easy to operate. What more could you ask for at this price point??pHighly recommended.

Sony DEJ621 Walkman Portable CD Player Feature

  • Up to 36 hours battery life
  • Digital Mega Bass
  • Advanced digital-based system for skip protection
  • Works with CD-R and CD-RW disks
  • Automatic Volume Limiter System for clear sound
The Sony D-EJ621 offers the second generation of skip-free technology that brings an improved mechanism for more protection against vertical shock, and a greatly advanced digital-based system for more than 10 times faster shock recovery compared to conventional systems, providing perfect playing performance without skipping even during such active uses as jogging. The D-EJ621 plays all compact discs including CD-R and CD-RW disks, thus making your own compilations available on the go! Thanks to the advanced Sony engineering, a new IC chip set and a new mechanism, the device may work up to 36 hours using one battery set. The Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS) maintains volume output at levels below distortion threshold for cleaner sound reproduction and the hand strap allows the player to be carried with confidence.

great! - -
This cd player is great! i really love it. I have had alot of cd players(all of them broke) but this one really stands up to what i do. I take it on all my trips with me. it has been out in the cold (40d) and still played. it has been dropped (alot!) and stepped on (by a horse, dont ask) it still works like it did the day i got it! I also go mtn biking and running with it. the skip protection is excellent. it never skips. one problem with it are the headphones that came with it. they are junk. after about 2 months with them it started to play in only one ear. i recomend you get some good headphones to go along with this great cd player. i dont know why people dont like it. this is my favorite cd player...ever!

Well i just got this cd player about two weeks ago. And i could tell you only one thing, "It rules". Man i cant belive that for the price i got it, ... it would work so well with the burnt cd's. Not worth the package it comes in - Eric Wise - cedar rapids, ia
I've had good luck with older Shockwave models so I dont know what happened with this disaster. I use the shockwaves because I run while listening to CDs. The older models (sw860) worked fine unless I dropped them a few times. THIS model does not work at all while running. This CD unit is so intolerant to motion, it actually shut off after skipping endlessly while I was running. The anti-skip system is automatically activated, according to the instructions, so it wasnt my error. It works fine if Im still... [...]. pThe headphones also sound lousy and the radios tuning mode is very non-intuitive. What a mess. Where did Panasonic go wrong?

It was misrepresented or unclear when I ordered it. I thought it would play MP3s on CD like some of the other CD players. It is solely a CD player with a digital FM/AM tuner. Not a bad product, just not the functionality I expected.

What a hunk of junk! When opened on Xmas discovered the batteries dead, instructions were for a radio and not a cd player, missing the plug! Needless to say my niece was disappointed. Now I am struggling to figure out how to find how to send back this worthless piece of junk. I should have bought it from Toys R Us. Very disappointed and it looks like I will be stuck for this crappy thing.

Pretty but flawed.... - Gina Glenn - Bluegrass State
We loved the design, the pink is very pretty the earbuds look cute. However, we ended up replacing the earbuds immediately. Additionally, it skips ALOT. It starts itself over midsong, and eats batteries like candy. I would skip this and find a more reputable one in pink.

I hate when I open a clamshell package and I get a whiff of that funky Chinese plastic smell - I think it's due to the chemicals they use to make their plastics, and I only encounter this smell with items from China. It nauseates me.br /br /I would have returned this but the smell dissipated from the CD player itself within 24 hours. The headphones that came with it are another story, they are still sitting out in my garage and I'm hoping they lose that smell eventually. In the meantime, I'm glad I kept my old headphones from my 10 year old Sony Walkman that bit the dust last month.br /br /This CD player does not have an anti-skip feature, but I'm ok with that. I use this when I go to bed at night to listen to relaxation CD's, I keep the CD player on the nightstand next to my bed and all is well. I tried this in my car and just letting it lay on the passenger seat worked well also. It's only when I hold this in my hand and shake it fairly hard that it skips. So this may work ok if you are a walker, but probably not if you intend to jog with it. (But that's what MP3 players are for).br /br /The controls are all easy to figure out without reading the instruction manual (the manual has that funny smell too).br /br /The sound quality is great but since I'm using my Sony headphones, that may have something to do with it. I haven't tried the J-win headphones.br /br /I'm happy with this, it was cheap, it has good battery life, and it plays my homemade CD-R's. I hope it lasts longer than the 90 day warranty that comes with it. And maybe one of these days the smell will leave the headphones, but if not, it's not a big deal to me.br /

I bought this to use when I am on a treadmill. It works, but it skips just from the mild vibration of the treadmill. And I certainly can't carry it while I'm walking. Also, it doesn't come with a power cord, so batteries are the only option. It's OK, but I wouldn't buy it again.

The Aiwa XP-V516C is a portable CD player which will play audio CDs, plus CD-R/RW discs. With the electronic anti-shock system you can choose between three settings: ten second memory, forty second memory, or cancel. Depending on where you set the anti-shock system, the two AA batteries which operate the player will last between twenty and twenty-seven hours. With the included AC adaptor recharging batteries is an easy chore. Simply insert the rechargeable batteries, (not included) plug in the AC adapter and select charge. You can also power the player with the AC adapter. With the twenty-four track memory, it is possible to individualize a CD play list, perfect for a motivating run or walk. Other features include: hold, resume, bass boost, repeat and random play. pbWhat's in the Box/bbr Aiwa XPV516C CD player, AC adapter, stereo headphones and a user's manual. The XP-V516C delivers incredible sound performance with up to 27 hours of playback. AIWA's advanced E.A.S.S. (Electronic Anti-Shock System) Plus is superior to anti-shock systems that rely primarily on buffer memory. With a significantly extended horizontal motion tolerance range and extremely precise laser pickup focus servo control, AIWA attacks the problem at the source. The laser pickup is far less likely to mistrack as a result of severe shock. And should mistracking occur, recovery time is much shorter. Combined with the digital buffer memory, this design significantly improves the ability of AIWA players to deliver uninterrupted music in typical portable use. AIWA's DSL circuitry is a sophisticated electronic equalizer automatically that compensates for bass roll-off, thereby extending the speaker's low-frequency response. The amount of compensation is varied according to signal level to prevent distortion and provide deep, natural-sounding bass at all listening levels. This player is also CD-R/RW compatible.

Panasonic SLSW505J Portable CD Player Review

I am impressed by the sound fidelity of panasonic S-SW 505 CD player. Gingerly opening the pack, I found the instructions and the complex facilities were more than I had asked for! Especially the bass setup with XBS, added beauty to percussion instruments. pI did not however care about the neoprene bag which came with a duct-tape tied obtusely around it to hold it and the belt together. It looks so odd to send a fine product along with such an ugly wrapping for an accessory.pBut as of the CD player(with an AC adapter with more than 4.5 ft cable, perfect when the battery is low), is great. The screen-display looks like a passive matrix computer screen , and is clear only for small viewing angle. With 3 power sources(AA cells, AC power, and rechargable battery), and a light weight, this CD player has ideas aplentypRegarding aesthetics, nothing sazzy; while the appearance is made pleasing with the yellow/black front panel. The lock-doors give a measure of security, while it is playing(in case it were to go upside down!). The headphones are great and comfy, and I believe I made a worthy purchase.

  • Anti-Shock Memory II antiskip function
  • Dual-lock system for CD lid
  • 24-track programming
  • Up to 20 hours of play
  • Built-in battery recharger

Its assortment of features includes bass boost, programming of up to 24 tracks, a dual-lock system for the disc lid, a built-in battery recharger, and long battery life. The SLSW505J is also water-resistant and sports a "hold" feature that prevents the user from unintentionally turning the unit on and draining the batteries or accidentally hitting Stop in the middle of a track.p This player's most important feature is its antiskip function, which stores up to 40 seconds of data in its memory to fill in gaps caused by bumps and vibrations. This unit performs nicely during repeated running, jumping, and shaking; however, the belt must be securely fastened around your waist or it will skip or pause--even with the anti-skip technology.p You can also hook up the SLSW505J to your home stereo or your car's cassette player with an accessory adapter (adapter not included).p One drawback to this player is that its display is hard to read. Also, the included belt could use another slot for headphones to better position the player within the pouch.p All in all, this portable CD player, designed with the jogger in mind, delivers the sonic goods and, during our testing, stayed firmly on track. pbPros:/bbrulliEffective antiskip technology li24-track programming liGood sound with bass boost /ulpbCons:/bbrulliDisplay is hard to read liHolding belt doesn't position player well /ul The Panasonic SL-SW505J CD Jogger w/Anti-Shock Memory II is one tough exercise buddy. review for panasonic portable cd player - -
I love this CD player. One thing I don't really use is the jogger belt because it doesn't have the support needed for the CD player. Also I've had my CD player since they year 2000, my headphones just started to go out so i can't use them anymore. But the antiskip is good.

AWESOME durable player - - Seattle, WA
I got this CD player because it was advertised as very durable and I know myself to not exactly be too careful with things I should. Sure enough, the second day I had it, I dropped it on the hard wood floor and then it bounced all the way down the staircase. It was completely fine and uneffected by the crash. It is awesome in every aspect except for the headphone jack. When I push the headphone cord end all the way into the jack, the bass turns off and the sound is horrible. So I have to push it in about half way which makes it so it comes out sometimes. Also, the coupon for the "free car kit" that comes with it expired eight months ago.

Sony D191 Discman Portable CD Player Review

I got this CD player as a gift at least 2 years ago and it has lasted me for that long. It is of high quality and may not be totally modern but it does play music and that's why you buy discmans right? Anyway, there are a couple things that could be improved. First, it doesn't have antiskip so everytime you even tap it, it will stop and then start up again 10 seconds later. Don't worry, it doesn't damage your CDs or at least it hasn't damaged any of mine. Second, it doesn't have a pause button which really stinks. Third, the headphone that come with it are really bad. The foam is peeling off and the sound is not very strong. Also, after you've had it a while you'll notice that you have to move the little headphone plug around to get the sound to come in with out crackling or only coming out in one ear. brSo if you want a durable CD player, get this!

OK but not great... - -
This is OK except for the missing pause button and it skips constantly. The sound is great with the Mega Bass. I would not recommend this for anyone who would be using this while in motion because of its skipping. I don't see anything wrong with the headphones, though. The Hold button is very useful.

Takes a lickin... - Jamie Boudreaux - Fresno, California
I have owned this one for 5 years now and it's I'm telling ya, it's still working perfectly. I've dropped in many times and it's so durable. The bass on it is pretty good. It shows you when the battaries need to be changed. My only complaint this whole time was that it skips very easily. Whether I'm just walking with it or if I'm in the car and we hit a bump, it skips. I'm buying a new one for the MP3 feature, but I don't think I'll give this one up ot throw it away!

If I am to be the beneficiary, I never rush into buying things, and the acquisition recently of a portable CD player was yet another example. I had for many years a very serviceable Panasonic, but without an anti-shock capability. Being tired of having to hold it in my hand while going on my walks, I "broke down" and splurged for a new one with the anti-chock feature. On the same surface, located roughly 90 degrees apart on a ring, 2-1/4 in. dia., are br /br /- AMS/search control to locate the beginning of a track, forward br /- Play/Pause br /- AMS/search control to locate the beginning of a track, backward br /- Stop play (power) br /br /There are 3 small buttons slightly protruding from the surface, located in a quadrant on a 3 - 1/4 dia. circle. Their functions are br /br /- To display the menu in the center window. Press once displays the track number and remaining time. Press twice displays the number of tracks left and the time remaining on the CD. Press thrice displays the track number and the elapsed time (normal display). Also press to enter the menu and the selection br /- To activate the P Mode. (play mode/repeat/bookmark) br /- Sound. Press repeatedly to enhance the bass response (3 levels) br /br /In the Thickness of the Player. We have br /br /- The open/close switch to install the CD in the player br /- A jack input for the headphone jack br /- A two-button volume control (increase and decrease) br /- A jack for a DC 4.5 V external power input br /br /Using the "bookmark" feature, one can add bookmarks up to 99 tracks for each CD, for up to five CD. Using the same button, one can program the CD player to play up to 64 tracks in any order. br /br /Additionally, one can program the CD player to stop playback automatically after 5 to 95 minutes. The instruction sheet tells you clearly (miracle?) how to set your display menu. br /br /Results. br /br /Pluses. I found the operation of this portable CD player straight forward. The sound in very good, good bass response, but I can not judge too well the high end of the frequency response, because my ears are not those of a young person. The G-protection works remarkably well. Now I just carry the CD player in my pocket. This brings a point which I thought would turn out to be a problem: with the controls on the top surface and some of them protruding, I envisioned the inadvertent activation of some of them while carrying the player in my pocket. This does not happen. Finally the batteries seem to last forever. br /br /Minuses. The silver paint seems to be "flimsy." During one of my walks, I happened to carry in the same pocket 2 spare AA batteries, which apparently rubbed gently against the top surface of the player. When I took it out of the pocket, the paint had been somewhat rubbed off at different locations near the outside edge of the player. The amplifier is a little weak. To hear the music in a rather quite environment, I still have to set the volume to near maximum; 8 to 9 ++ (the max). As mentioned above, my ear response to high frequencies (8 KHz and above) is rather limited, but below 8 KHx it is near normal, and certainly normal below 5KHz, where most of the power is. br /br /The punch line. Overall, a very nice portable CD player. br /br /
